Welcome to the FIRST Team 231 Website!

What is the FIRST Robotics Competition?

FIRST is an acronym for: "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology".  The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an annual extra curricular activity for High School students to design, build, and operate point-scoring robots with help from community mentors.

What do we do?

The FRC challenges our team and it's mentors to develop a robot designed to complete a given task using a standard "kit of parts", given to every team, and a common set of rules. We meet weekly during the fall season to learn about engineering, safety, problem solving, and team building. On the first Saturday of January, FIRST holds the kick-off event, which is attended by all of the teams that are in the area. At this event FIRST reveals the eagerly awaited game which varies widely each year and is as unpredictable as tornado's, you never know what the brains of FIRST will come up with. We are also given the "kit of parts" ,and the rule book. Before we leave the event the game has already begun, from then on it's six weeks of late nights and early Saturday meetings. This time is referred to as the build season. When the six weeks build period is complete the robot must be completed and shipped away, never to be seen again until Regionals and then hopefully at Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. which team 231 high voltage is proud to say we are going to again
